ABOUT
--------------
Nick Grucz is a musical virtuoso who has performed various instruments on over 50 recordings with several different artists. Grucz picked up guitar by age twelve, piano by age fourteen and was playing in his first cover band by sixteen. After many attempts to form a band with classmates and neighborhood friends, he learned how to play drums and bass guitar. His love for music inspired him to learn how to record and mix instruments. In 2014, seventeen year old Grucz began writing his solo album, "The Virus" where he wrote, performed and recorded every instrument as well as sang, mixed and produced every track on the album.
Grucz started his first original band in 2016 called, "Den of Greece", with Joe Bida and Nick Rautenberg. Grucz and Bida switched between guitar and bass while singing and Rautenberg played drums. The group gained attention quickly by bringing large crowds and carrying out extravagant stage performances. Shortly after the release of their first album recorded at Shoreside Studios, Rautenberg was replaced by drummer, Gordon Keevis. The three went on to play venues such as Harpos, The Token Lounge and The Blind Pig before disbanding in 2019.
Former band mate, Nick Rautenberg contacted Grucz with a proposal to create a new band with the name, "Avalanche" where Rautenberg could sing and Grucz play guitar. Grucz reached out to Joe Bida's little brother, Marty Bida (bass/guitar) and old friend, Kaelan Smith (drummer) to comprise the new line up. Grucz recorded their self-titled EP at his residence and released it in September of 2020.
That same year, Grucz joined a second band called, "Negative Temperature" with Blake Hendrix (guitarist/vocalist) and Chris Shade (bassist). He performed drums on two albums, recorded at Hendrix's residence, and only performed two shows before departing from the group in 2021. He also helped former drummer, Gordon Keevis, (a.k.a. Jordon Delvecchio) record his solo album. Keevis played piano, drums and sang while Grucz added guitars and bass. Though no official credit was given, Grucz also recorded, mixed and produced all of the instruments and tracks.
In June of 2022, Grucz helped open Uptown Studios in Novi, MI with two other business partners. He built the mixing room and vocal booth in the facility and operated as head engineer for a little over a year. During his time there, he reunited with Joe Bida to start a project called, "Faded Fuchsia." This consisted of Bida on acoustic and bass guitar, and Grucz on keyboards, drums and electric guitar. The two recorded their first EP with featured singer, Madeline Smith.
Avalanche eventually replaced Marty Bida with bassist Mike Paraski and proceeded to release their first music video, all filmed, directed and edited buy Grucz. Nick Rautenberg announced his departure from Avalanche the Band in the fall of 2023, which prompted Grucz to form his current band called, "Valaura".
With Grucz on guitar and Paraksi on bass, he recruited long time friend, Frank Burgaj, to play the keyboard as well as Justin Laynon to play the drums. The four found their lead singer, Casey Cafego and went on to perform several shows in southern Michigan and released four tracks together before Lanyon's departure in December of 2024. Lanyon was replaced by drummer, Gordon Keevis, who stepped in to maintain the band's momentum. The group released one single in the spring of 2025 before changing their line up dramatically.
Valaura currently features Nick Grucz on guitar, Mike Paraski on bass, with new found members Noah Barnes on drums and Abi Tipton on vocals. While the group is working on new music, music videos and booking local performances, Grucz continues to record and produce their music as well as his solo project. Teaming up with established music organizations such as 107 Sound, Your Entourage Agency and Aw Yeah! Records, Nick Grucz has certainly made his mark in the music industry and will continue to break new thresholds as the owner of Grucz Entertainment.
